Josh Thorsen is an artist living on the Gold Coast, Australia. A child of the eighties his work is heavily influenced by his love of classic cartoons, skateboarding culture, comics, and anime. His earlier work exploded with bold color palettes giving life to goonish characters and the world in which they were created, leaving the viewer experiencing nothing short of an LSD flashback. Over time his work has matured and become more refined using simpler color palettes and a much cleaner, individual line style while staying true to the themes of nostalgia, juxtaposition, counter-culture, and challenging the boundaries and ideas of what’s acceptable within pop culture art.
Consistently producing original, inspiring work since the late 1990s, Josh has firmly cemented his position within the Australian lowbrow art scene and has contributed to gallery shows and private commissions extensively both locally and internationally.
